Although I think the rain thinks we don't know that, so it keeps pouring... Anywho, my modern friends, Addy, Summer and I have been busy decorating for the season. Kiley is getting to be about as jumpy as Abby when we mention Thanksgiving dinner (It's her responsibility to cook) and Abby has been pestering us nonstop about her birthday (November 26th). I haven't bothered anyone about the fact that it's also my birthday in 9 days, although it would be nice if I got some recognition. So, in case Ms. B wanders by and happens to read this I would just like to say that Shirley has been in need of some new dresses... And that blue polka dot dress is NOT on back order anymore so that's no excuse! Sorry, just had to say it. Oh! Ms. B is going to audition for Annie the musical (Hence the title) which she explained takes place in my time. (And is about me!!!!) O.k., no it's not. I'm not an orphan in the care of Daddy Warbucks. (Sadly) However, I'm excited for her and it will be such fun to learn about a new musical to perform!
Fun Fact: Annie the musical started out as a comic strip by Harold Gray in 1894 and became a very popular radio show in 1930. Little Orphan Annie wound her way into the hearts of many, turning into a Broadway Musical in 1977.Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366689345989283437.post-27154943006162581882011-07-15T13:45:00.000-07:002011-07-15T14:08:24.351-07:00Summer Fun!!!Hello everybody! Gee, it's been a long time since I've posted. Well.... I have some really important news! I am going to the american girl store in Seattle with Ms. B! Hooray! Ms. B's been working for hours on what she calls her combo list...it's this silly thing where she lists all these different combinations of different things she wants and the totals.... I'd say it's kind of wasteful but I do get to see what she's thinking of getting me. Abby, however, is using all of her willpower to make sure she gets some kind of board with wheels, silly modern people. Summer and I just want the Amelia Earhart doll and the cute light blue dress....what? That's not too much...*sigh* O.K., I guess it's quite a bit. Since i'm going on the trip I should be content. Oh! I almost forgot! Ms. B found a summer play outfit for me! (well, actually she just found these pink knickers to go with my shirt, but it's still amazing!) I hope everyone's having a great summer!

Fun Fact: The Nelson Knitting Co. of Rockford, Ill., is not entirely responsible for the making of sock monkeys, but they were one of the first companies to start putting patterns or directions for making the sock monkey on their boxes of socks. I got... My Shirley temple doll! Although I would have been content with just that, Santa had some more surprises up his sleeve! He gave Ms. B and I nine Shirley Temple Movies on DVD! Then, he gave Ms. B a new house for us, a house in which there is a theater room for Summer and I! Now, that was it for me, but I just had to share about the sweetest present of all, one that meant the world to my friend Kiley. It was a baby sister! She's the sweetest little thing, I just love playing with her!

Fun Fact: In 1928, a contest was held so that the Fremont Canning company could find a trademark baby. Dorothy Hope Smith submitted a sketch of Ann Turner, and it was picked as the winner. Ann Turner came to be known as the most famous baby. She and little Tia are both oh so cute!!!
Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366689345989283437.post-30502884905591373072010-12-20T14:22:00.000-08:002010-12-20T14:31:19.977-08:00Only Five days till Christmas...Yay!Well, how is everybody's Holidays going? Mine is going pretty good, but I fear poor Abby is taking it hard. You see, Abby gets a little.... excited, shall we say, when the Holidays come. I know, because the mailman made the mistake of dropping me off on Abby's B-day... That was a little scary. She just loves presents, and the fact that she knows exactly where they are in Ms. B's room doesn't help...Yeesh. When Ms. B went on a short vacation this weekend, Abby almost made it to the drawer, except Ms. B has guards around the drawer, big fluffy ones. So, with a few ice packs on her head, Abby is resting very impatiently, but Kiley's special gingerbread cookies seem to be helping. Ta Ta for now!
-Annie Belle

Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366689345989283437.post-33912131408244696452010-11-10T16:08:00.000-08:002010-11-10T16:41:14.081-08:00Happy fall everyone! Where I am at, it's already snowed! (Not that it stuck or anything, but still..)
Anyways, Summer and I are very busy working on plays and such to keep our fellow dolls happy. It has been very boring (and very cold) here as of late, so we need something to do. I am getting excited for the holidays though! My family celebrates Christmas, and I remember the oranges, cookies, and hot chocolate in fancy glasses that made up our annual Fitzgerald holiday banquet. This year, Ms. B says we will have turkey and green beans, sing Christmas songs, dance, and play games! Now that's my kind of banquet (no offense mom). This Christmas, I am asking for my Shirley Temple doll. Well, alright, I didn't really want my doll at the time I got her, I had asked for money for the homeless... when I opened her I was mad at my mom for not helping the people again, but I said thank you none the less. Then, I came to a small box, inside I found money for the homeless and permission to work at the soup kitchen! Now, I treasure my doll as a reminder of how my Mom and Dad really did care, and of how I was able to finally help the people in need.

Fun Fact:Shirley Temple dolls were introduced in 1934, as Shirley's fame increased. Some are still sold today by danberry mint for collectors.
Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366689345989283437.post-60502368075186026812010-09-21T18:02:00.000-07:002010-09-21T18:20:16.662-07:00Wow, it's been a while, hasn't it? Hi everyone! I've been having a great time this summer (tomorrow it will be fall) ... Anyways, Summer and I have been missing our old banquets and garden parties. My family is very wealthy, and according to my mother, we must live up to everyone's expectations. She is the only reason that I am not giving money away to families in need right now, and not at the soup kitchen. Well, these parties are very fancy, with white tablecloths, fancy dresses, and excellent tea/food. I used to sneak away after greeting everyone (I still keep my manners), and then I would go to the hidden space between the two rose bushes to read Nancy Drew. Then Summer came, and now we stay at the party to talk and act/sing for the fellow audience. However, many of the ladies refuse to watch Summer perform. I never could understand why they can't just accept her. Once, she and I sang together, and then the ladies didn't know if they should look or not. You see, those ladies think I'm Shirley Temple or something, and hang on to my every word. I know that it's just because they want to be invited to our fancy parties and in the social crowd. Anyways, happy fall everyone! Have a great day!Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366689345989283437.post-25377773949650612022010-07-06T22:38:00.001-07:002010-07-06T22:38:34.823-07:00Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366689345989283437.post-43538763017881323642010-07-06T22:33:00.000-07:002010-07-06T22:34:00.230-07:00Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366689345989283437.post-12402120162325311172010-07-06T21:25:00.000-07:002010-07-06T22:31:25.869-07:00What an exciting day!!!Today I went on an exciting outing with Ms. B, her mom, and her grandma! We went to a doll museum, which was amazing, they had 1,200+ dolls on display, and that was only a third of the owners collection! Anyways, I saw a Shirley Temple dolls, even the one that I actually own! We also saw a doll that looked liked me, Ms. B said her name was Samantha. Then, Ms. B and her mom and grandma went to a restaurant for lunch, while I stayed in the car, playing with my new dress. Hey wait! I forgot to mention that Ms. B found me a new dress at the museums store, and it will be perfect for garden parties. That's the first dress in my collection, and Ms. B and her mom are working on the next one. However, Ms. B is getting discouraged because, well, she can't sew very well, and her moms really doing most of the work... So any encouraging words would be appreciated. So, back to the story... When they got back from lunch, we stopped at a little grocery-like store, with lots of fresh fruit and flowers. Then, we headed for home, and Ms. B and her mom worked on sewing the dress some more.

Fun Fact: Even though Annie's life may seem too good to be true during the depression, the family had to do a lot of chores to keep their original life style. For example, Annie and her family hand washed and dried their clothes, instead of using their electronic washing machine, to save money. Once, when the Annie & Andrew show was in desperate need of a stage, Annie made a deal. Annie, Andrew, Summer, and Ida (Their maid and her daughter), would do all of the long, hot work of scrubbing, carrying, squeezing, and soaking, the clothes (And a whole lot more!), so their mother could do other things around the house. Sometimes, the A&A crew regrets making that deal, but not when they have their side of the deal, which is two sheets with the words The Annie and Andrew Show painted on, which work as perfect curtains hanging on the clothesline!

Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366689345989283437.post-54905836915326156422010-06-30T17:31:00.000-07:002010-06-30T17:45:06.489-07:00Hey everybody, It's me, Annie! I haven't been on here very recently but that's because I was very busy. Summer's Birthday was last Monday and I had to plan it all by myself! Well, the modern girls helped. Kiley, Abby, and Sonali are Ms. B's other dolls, from Ms. B's time period. Anyways, I was in charge. Ms. B had taken Summer to a museum about flying airplanes and rockets and such for the day, so that's when we set up the party. I also wrapped presents for summer. Guess what she got? It was amazing! She got an Amelia Earhart set/outfit! Summer got a book, jacket, goggles, helmet, and scarf. I wonder what I'll get for my birthday?

Fun Fact: A word on Amelia Earhart, Summers role model. Amelia Earhart flew planes, or was an aviatrix ( The girl form for Aviator). She set many records, like being the first woman to fly across the Atlantic ocean solo. Wouldn't that be scary? Being all alone, for so long? However, she did it! If you want to read more about her, you can find a book or go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amelia_Earhart See you later!
Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366689345989283437.post-9191853785212867342010-06-19T21:49:00.001-07:002010-06-19T21:49:15.504-07:00Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366689345989283437.post-87324726733898675442010-06-19T21:16:00.000-07:002010-06-19T21:49:46.978-07:00Summer is here!Yay! My Best Friend, Summer, is finally here! I was so excited when she came! Guess what Ms. B did to celebrate? No, nope, you'll never guess... She let us watch Heidi, in color! It was like watching it for the first time all over again! Having color makes a big difference! In case you didn't know, Shirley Temple is the star of Heidi! In fact, the children had to pledge to follow and listen to Shirley during the movie. (It was a fun game made up because Shirley liked to boss the other kids around because they weren't doing it right.) Of course, the Annie & Andrew show cast would have done it perfectly.

Alright, now for the fun fact: Although I may seem happy and cheery, most of the 1930's were hard. We were in the depression, and no one had very much money. Some girls wore something called feedsack, which was clothing made out of sacks of feed! I even have some things made out of that. Soon, feed companies picked up on this and started printing out pretty patterned sacks. It was a race to see who could make the best and prettiest patterns! Bye for now, everyone!
Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366689345989283437.post-23964274174132026702010-06-18T12:14:00.000-07:002010-06-18T12:34:56.677-07:00Summer's coming!!!Guess what? My Human Friend, will call/refer to her as Ms. B, says Summer will be coming to our home! Hooray! Also, Ms. B is going to make me my Shirley Temple dress (Finally)! I find it funny that Summer is coming in Summer! Soon enough, we will have our stage, she will have her Shirley Temple dress, and we can perform our famous play! Well, we don't really know what it is, as we just re-enact our favorite ST scenes. My favorite is when Summer sings "Animal Crackers in my soup" and I dance. It will be sad w/o Andrew though... but Ms. B. has to find someone who can make a boy custom. Or who can cut hair... anyone? I just know you'll love him! Anyways, hooray! I'm so excited!!!

Fun 1937 fact: (get used to these, their in every post) 1937 saw many famous movie releases, like Snow White, and Heidi! Shirley Temple was known almost everywhere! The 1930's was/is often referred to as "the golden age of Hollywood" doesn't that sound glamorous? It makes perfect sense when you look around where I live, or visit the Broadway Theater District (two minutes away from me). It has the biggest collection of old (new to me, old to Ms. B) theaters in the world!
Ms. Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12359880062444090484noreply@blogger.com0
